I think it's probably a bit ironic for the average reader to see that the first joy of marriage entry for me is my in-laws. In all honesty, both Amanda and I have really lucked out regarding our in-laws and we're fortunate to be so loved by them and supported by them. Kids don't ever do anything to earn a parent's love, but instead are loved because they are children. The same is true for the spouse in a child's life, I'm not loved because of something I do but because I am loved by Amanda and because Amanda's parents have chosen to care for me as well. What's even better is that now that I'm married, it's like I have 2 sets of parents to help me along when I need it.
For example. I was on my way to class this morning to take an exam but instead my tie-rod on my car broke and I wasn't able to get out of the apartment complex. Since Amanda had left early for some meetings in Bucyrus, I was without another option and immediately called my back-up go to person: my mom. Mom woke up and hurried down to pick me up. Despite the traffic we got into campus so that I could still finish my exam. I'm sure I didn't do as well as I could've on it but I did my best considering the situation.
Here's where it gets even better. Mom picking me up and taking me to class at 7 in the morning was wonderful. Her then offering to help get my car towed and to take me out during Jacob's piano lesson is even more cool. And then Amanda's mom offered to loan me her car if I needed to run to get anything done towards getting my car fixed. Fantastic, and that's why today I'm glad to have essentially 2 sets of supportive parents.
