Sporcle

I first was introduced to Sporcle about a month ago by Dare in our grad office. I'd been wondering what she did to occupy herself all day, sitting quietly in the corner. Let's be honest that nearly everyone has dead time in an office job. We're always waiting on someone else, held up by the paperwork until the one hour when we're serving a purpose. We're busy as I'll get out in that one hour, then back to boredom until we drive home.

Well, that's where Sporcle comes in. This website has all sorts of intellectually stimulating challenges and besides a few programming frustrations, it's nearly always accurate and has gotten me through many slow days in the recent past. So being the caring, sharing husband that I am, I decided to share the idea with Amanda as well. There was also a little bit of competitive spirit riding on this invite since you can challenge your friends to different games.

Needless to say that I am now holding a losing record with Amanda, mostly because I have been outclassed by a long shot on popular music, celebrity and movie names. If it weren't for this category I would look like a king. But the main goal has been accomplished - we have something to do during the long work week, giving us a mutual affliction of computer screen headache when get home so we can commiserate together as well. Just one more way that the two of us try to spend time together during this busy and detached stage of our marriage.
