Through all the hustle and bustle of the weeks, both Amanda and I can get pretty lost in our schedules. This week has been especially hectic with her working long hours at work and me working odd hours down here, including a 4.30 am trip to the harvest floor. Add to that all of the volunteer time that we spend and have to work around our jobs and you can quickly see how busy our week gets. So it's nice to just sit down catch our breath sometimes.
That's where Chinese comes in. With our friends' softball game done earlier than expected (and a big win for them!), we found ourselves with the opportunity to get food and sit and watch some TV. I know, TV is not the most romantic thing on the block, but we were both exhausted from long days and wanted nothing more than to just sit down. So on my way home Amanda suggested I pick up some Chinese. Chinese is probably my favorite take-out food and represents a casual, lazy eating experience. But it didn't always used to be that way.
Even ordering Chinese used to be a real stress point for me. Looking through the menu with all the choices of stuff and not really knowing what Amanda likes, it was intimidating to even consider ordering. I usually still try to leave the ordering to her or at least to write down what she wants exactly, but I'm slowly becoming more familiar with it. Over the past year, we've eaten Chinese our fair share of times, with our favorite place being cheap and just around the corner. And Chinese nights have come to represent a casual night in, just sitting and watching the TV.
While we're on the subject of TV, last night while we ate Chinese, we watched our DVR of the "19 kids and counting" show. All I can say is that one of the kids-in-law had a baby and it was quite the entertainment experience. If you can find that somewhere online, knock yourself out.
