Distance...

... is something that I will be pondering a lot this week as Amanda and I spend more time apart than we have since I went to Dairy Challenge last April in California. I've heard it said that distance makes the heart grow fonder and I would agree wholeheartedly. If you have a relationship that can survive distance and the challenges that it brings, you have a relationship that can survive anything and you should do whatever it takes to keep that for all time.

When Amanda and I first started dating, I warned her how difficult the distance would be and how I was worried about whether or not we would make it through that or not. Less than 5 weeks into our relationship, as we were just getting the wheels rolling, I had to leave for MSU and begin school again. Funny thing is that for how hard I expected it to be, it was worse. That was hard, but we have consistently evolved into better communicators (even now still working on that) and this lead to one of the key strengths in our relationship today. Without the communication between us every day, we wouldn't know each other as well as we do, we wouldn't read each other as well as we do and we wouldn't be able to be as supportive for each other as we are. In the end, I know that even distance now is good for our relationship sometimes to practice communicating and to force us to have other good friends in our lives, but I still hate it.
