My Guardian Angel

Wednesday night, my angel was about 5'8" tall, with short blond hair and a medium build. After playing basketball in our new league, which started on Wednesday, I left in a hurry to get back home to Amanda who had just gotten home from class. In the rush to get home, it didn't occur to me until I got home that the space occupied on my left ring finger and denoted by a tan line even in the winter was missing my wedding band.

Instead, it was when I reach home that I realized I was without this epic symbol of our commitment upon which realization I frantically started calling and looking up numbers to try and reach someone who could get me back inside to get the ring. And this is where my angel comes in.

She was the last person at the basketball place that night, just closing up, and went back inside just to look for my ring. Upon reaching the place and seeing her sitting outside waiting for me, I told her she was my hero. She told me she felt like she saved a marriage that night. "No", I told her, "you saved my life". Putting it back on, I gave a huge exhalation of relief as I headed back home, grateful to have been so fortunate.

PS (4/20/2011). I have since been informed by my wife who saw the girl that her hair wasn't blond at all. In the dark it must have been an illusion.
