Even the smallest of trips away from real life can be such a blessing for us in our marriage. I swear I could just sit around at home with the internet unplugged and my phone off and accomplish nearly the same thing, but when we get to take a trip away from home, relax in a hotel and hang out in an atmosphere that both of us enjoy - it's a good weekend.
Such was the case this past weekend as we journeyed to Louisville, KY, for the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE). NAILE holds a lot of good memories for us in both our relationship and our lives as young adults as both of us have competed there in the past and as recently as last year helped other 4-H youth to reach their aspirations in a national competition as well.
This year was marked by a new experience as we helped my younger brother and sister get their lambs ready for the National Junior Shropshire show. Sheep are definitely not my forte, but Amanda has a lot of experience with them. She probably laughed at me more often than I caught her because it's obvious by my interactions with them that I understand a lot about animals, but not necessarily sheep. This is an area for me to grow in the future with the guidance of my experienced wife, but even so, it was wonderful to get away for the weekend, sleep in in the mornings, shop and eat. Every so often you just need a break, and this was the case with us.
